The FGS Group (FGS) is a registered geology and engineering firm that is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. FGS Also has office locations in Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Florida.
With over 150 years of combined experience in the ownership of the company, and an experienced and dedicated staff of engineers, geologists, technicians, and construction personnel, The FGS Group continues to build upon its position in Florida as a leader in the petroleum cleanup program.

For 19 years The FGS Group has been an innovator in the environmental remediation industry, utilizing a unique approach of handling our client's needs, and acting as a partner with our clients to improve the value of their assets as well as decrease their liabilities. Our full service capabilities ensure streamlined project results since all phases of each project are conducted in house allowing for a seamless transition from phase to phase until project completion. This organization and methodology has led to an excellent performance rating by both the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) staff as well as our private clients. Our goal is always to get a project completed and the site closed as quickly as possible. Florida Groundwater Services, Inc. (FGS) was founded in April 1989. The company’s focus is environmental consulting and engineering, specializing in contaminated soil and groundwater investigations, Phase I and Phase II site audits, contamination assessments, remedial action design, and landfill assessment and remediation.
In 1991 Florida Remediation Services, Inc. (FRS) was founded as an affiliate of FGS. FRS provided turn-key environmental construction and remediation associated with petroleum and non-petroleum contamination, and hazardous waste.
In 2007, FGS was merged into FRS Environmental Remediation, d.b.a. The FGS Group.
Since its inception, FGS has been an active participant in state-funded petroleum clean-up programs. FGS was active in the pre-1995 reimbursement program, and we are proud that our projects were, on the whole, completed more economically than most.
Petroleum and hazardous waste assessment, design, and cleanup (both public and private sector) have been the backbone of our project load since the company’s inception. FGS has maintained a core group of key employees over the last 12 years that has enabled FGS to have continuity on projects throughout all project phases. We employ some of the most experienced personnel in the field of petroleum contamination assessment and remediation. Our experience working with petroleum-contaminated sites exceeds 8 years per employee. The end result for clients is having experienced, professional personnel working to solve their environmental issues.
As petroleum-impacted sites moved through the assessment and remediation planning phases, the principals of FGS understood the need and benefits for an in-house remedial construction company. The owners of FGS expanded their service offering to deliver competent, in-house remediation services at very competitive prices. Today, FGS operates as a full service consulting and engineering firm with the personnel and equipment to provide true turn-key environmental solutions. FGS has a staff that can be dedicated to the various phases of Client work. In addition to petroleum related services, FGS provides a wide range of environmental consulting services including: Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remedial investigation/feasibility studies (RI/FS), industrial management training/education, indoor air quality consulting and asbestos related services.
We credit our continued growth to our aggressive project management and our ability to move projects towards closure. We currently employ 40 people throughout our offices. From our beginning in 1989, FGS has been a Florida consulting firm expanding to Jacksonville and Tallahassee to meet our clients’ needs and demands. In our 19 years of operation, FGS has completed over 1,400 projects in virtually every discipline required in the assessment and remediation of petroleum contamination. We have been praised by FDEP staff for our can-do attitude and our aggressive project management focused on obtaining site closures in the most cost effective manner possible. Simply put, our focus and expertise in petroleum cleanup and our turn-key capabilities make FGS an outstanding candidate for your business needs. FGS has undertaken 28 performance based cleanups (PBCs), many times actually preferring to complete projects through the PBC process, and we have many success stories in the PBC arena.
